Asian e-shopping to boom

One look at the figures and it quickly becomes apparent why retailers around the world are trying to grab a slice of Asia's e-business pie, says The Sun Daily.

It has been predicted that by 2012, China alone will have 200 million online shoppers, with a report released by the China e-Business Research Centre also claiming e-commerce will account for turnover topping 4.38 trillion yuan by the end of the year.

Little surprise then that American online shopping giants PayPal and comGateway have in the past week decided to tap into the market with the release in the Asia-Pacific region of the HopShopGo Web site.

Agility logistics deploys Oracle

To improve its capacity to quickly respond to the needs of its customer base, Agility, an integrated logistics provider, has standardised international human resources and processes on the newest version of the Oracle E-Business Suite, reports TTKN.

By replacing numerous legacy systems with the Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1, Agility says it is able to view an accurate snapshot of on its 26 000 employees in 59 countries in seconds, saving time on reporting and promoting greater visibility into its company and resources.

To drive this HR transformation, Agility's deployed multiple components of the Oracle E-Business Suite Human Resources Management System.

LivingSocial offers localised bargains

LivingSocial, which operates a Web site where consumers can find coupons for restaurants, hotels, spas, bars and sporting events, has begun offering neighbourhood-specific deals to bargain seekers in Washington DC and New York City, states Internetretailer.com.

The New York City areas with specific offers are uptown, midtown, downtown and Brooklyn. The DC areas include the city, Montgomery County, MD, and Northern Virginia.

“Localising our offers makes our deals more relevant to our users,” says Eric Eichmann, LivingSocial chief operating officer.
