
Asian telcos build next-gen networks
According to an SKT statement, Pocket Gamer says the two companies will commit resources to jointly research the “advancement of low-cost, high-efficiency next-generation radio access network architecture.
SK Telecom's T Store has more than 80 000 applications, and passed the 100 million download mark in December 2010. China Mobile's Mobile Market has 50 000 applications, with more than 110 million downloads by the end of 2010.
Rethink Wireless states that the partnership shows how China Mobile is seeking to create an ecosystem around the platforms it controls, such as TD-LTE.
Korean vendors and operators have been increasingly important partners and advisers as China Mobile says it seeks to accelerate its wireless progress, and SKT aims to expand outside its saturated home base.
