AST eBIS, a division of Advanced Software Technologies-Abraxas (AST-A), has announced the first commercial Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Server digital certificate issuing services.
"Entrust is building the framework that will allow mobile phones to be not only the ubiquitous consumer and e-business transaction "on-ramp" to next generation e-commerce, but the global point-of-sale terminal of choice," says Steve Crutchley, GM of AST eBIS, SA distributor for Entrust Technologies.
"The world-wide mobile data market is projected to be $80 billion by 2010, and the global penetration of mobile phones alone is expected to grow to 1 billion by 2003," continues Crutchley. Entrust.net WAP Server certificates will enable new and existing web merchants to securely conduct transactions with mobile consumers. These new secure wireless transaction merchant portals will expand the value of e-business between the mobile user and the Internet e-business sites.
