AST Manufacturing Systems Integration (MSI), a business unit of the AST Group, has successfully completed an instrumentation upgrade for the De-palletiser & Packing conveyers for SAB`s Chamdor plant in Krugersdorp.
In order to improve instrumentation control and overall production efficiencies, SAB`s instrumentation upgrade to a Siemens` Control Systems was necessary as there was no documentation for the old control system and was unable to keep up with the demand of the plant.
"The need for industries worldwide to become more efficient and better prepared for unwanted stoppages and control system breakdowns is important in today`s competitive environment," explains Ruben Miller of AST MSI.
"Full documentation will provide SAB with improved faultfinding, which will allow for better control of the De-palletiser & Packing conveyers, and allow SAB to implement cost-effective technology to monitor and maintain its entire control system."
