AST Namibia appointed as Sun reseller

AST Namibia, a member of the JSE Securities Exchange listed AST Group, has been appointed by Sun Microsystems to expand into the Namibian marketplace. As the sole distributor for Sun in Namibia, AST Namibia will distribute and support all Sun products, both hardware and software.

Sun Microsystems is a leading provider of industrial-strength hardware, software and services that power the Internet and allow enterprises to make full use of state of the art technology.

"Worldwide we are seeing an increase in processor speed, bandwidth, as well as in the number of users, devices, and data types linking to the Internet," explains Cois du Plooy, MD of AST Namibia. "With access to Sun`s wide product range and experience, AST Namibia is ready to take advantage of this situation and the exciting new opportunities it presents."

AST Namibia has already implemented a solution utilising Sun terminal for the University of Namibia, with a primary focus on classroom training. The installations at the University of Namibia was done under the supervision of AST Namibia`s Sun certified specialist and will be mainly used for the delivery of e-mail to the students.
