Astute marketing strategy delivers double benefits

Johannesburg, 04 Oct 2006

ICT distributor Comztek recently donated power supply technology to a leading IT training organisation - in return for high product visibility. It hopes this innovative marketing strategy will dramatically increase product awareness in its key target market.

John Middlewick, product manager for MGE UPS at Comztek, explains: "Many key decision-makers attend high-level Cisco courses at Torque IT. We want to expose these high profile individuals to MGE UPS systems - and have done so by providing units for the company`s four Cisco classrooms."

Torque IT gets welcome functionality while Comztek gains the exposure it seeks via signage and brochures. In addition, the units are highly visible within the classrooms.

"As a Cisco Learning Solutions Partner, the only company in Africa to have this prestigious accreditation, Torque IT attracts the very people we want to target," says Middlewick.

"The arrangement works well for both of us," says Torque IT`s technical director, Carl Raath. "It is very convenient to be able to continue lecturing during a power failure, and the signage definitely generates discussion about Comztek and MGE UPSs among the senior Cisco engineers that attend our courses."

The MGE UPSs ensure business continuity and protection. In the event of a power failure, they will provide power for a predetermined period. They also continually filter the quality of power reaching the lecturers` equipment in the four Cisco classrooms, protecting it from power fluctuations and poor power quality.
