AT&T expands mobile broadband coverage

by upgrading its sites in Dresden and Dillon Lake to 3G or mobile broadband technology, reports WhizNews.

“When we increase these speeds on these towers, we go up to the 3G technology,” explained AT&T spokesperson Holly Hollingsworth. “It's all about the speed, and this mobile broadband capacity allows you to open the apps, download the files, get on the , while you're on your smartphone, that's where you're going to see the speed.”

The next technology for AT&T will be 4G LTE, which is said to be available nationwide by the end of next year.

The new cell sites are one part of AT&T's ongoing efforts to drive investment and innovation to deliver the nation's best, most advanced mobile broadband experience for customers, says Market Watch.

With the nation's fastest mobile broadband network, AT&T provides accelerated mobile data speeds and simultaneous voice and data capabilities. AT&T invested more than $200 million in its Ohio wireless and wireline networks in the first half of 2011.

"Our goal is for our customers to have an extraordinary experience. As part of the Muskingum County community, we're always looking for new opportunities to provide enhanced coverage, and our investment in the local wireless network is just one way we're accomplishing that," said Larry Evans, VP and GM, AT&T Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.
