AT&T outlines iPad 3G plans
AT&T has released details on how it will charge iPad users for 3G access, reports Computing.co.uk.
The carrier will offer two options, allowing users to choose a set amount of data transfers or an unlimited plan.
Customers who do not plan to make heavy use of 3G transfers will be able to purchase a fixed 250MB plan at a monthly price of $14.99, or unlimited access for $29.99. Each plan will also offer access to AT&T's WiFi hotspot network in the US.
Brocade holds off M&A
Brocade Communications Systems' new executive sees no pressing need for the network equipment maker to be acquired, despite the market's speculation it wanted to be bought, states Reuters.
John McHugh was hired in March as chief marketing officer in charge of global marketing and strategic alliances and analysts have cited his M&A (merger and acquisition) experience as an asset for the company in a possible sale to a big technology vendor.
While announcing a technology venture with EMC on Monday, McHugh shrugged off speculation he was brought in to help sell the company, which competes with industry leader Cisco Systems.
Extreme, Force 10 push 40Gb Ethernet
The promise of 40 Gigabit Ethernet networks was a key topic of discussion at the Interop 2010 show in Las Vegas, writes eWeek.
Extreme Networks rolled out the VIM3-40G4X for its stackable switches. The uplink adds four 40GbE connections to its Summit X650 top-of-rack switches, and also is compatible with the Summit X480 switches, according to Extreme officials.
For their part, officials with Force 10 Networks, who gave further definition to their plans for 40GbE, continued to push their message during the show.
