ATIO offers Microsoft Lync 2010 deployment package to Core CAL customers

At last the time has arrived - Microsoft now offers Microsoft Lync Standard to Core CAL customers. If you have a Core CAL with Software Assurance, you will receive Lync Standard CAL and FEP for free, and the Software Assurance price will not change until your contract renewal date.

Lync Standard CAL includes multi-party instant messaging, group chat, presence and PC-to-PC audio and video communications. Additionally, Lync Standard lights up Exchange, SharePoint, and the Office client with instant messaging, contact cards, and presence.

ATIO as a leading Microsoft Voice Partner is excited about the change in the Core CAL, as having access to the Lync Standard CAL from 1 August 2011, will allow organisations the ability to quickly realise business value.

With the increasing cost of travel and upcoming toll roads, organisations are looking for ways to bring offices closer together and eliminate the need for unnecessary travel. The Lync Standard CAL is the first step to allowing organisations to leverage the benefit of instant messaging and one-to-one voice and videoconferencing.

“This is going to revolutionise the way we communicate and do business with each other, and save costs on voice calls by using text messaging through Internet messaging on Microsoft Lync instead. It will also allow Core CAL customers to easily upgrade to the full version of Microsoft Lync, which could ultimately replace their existing traditional PBX, and still have access to audio/video and Web conferencing, document sharing and collaboration, as well as enterprise voice and much more,” says Chantal Barnes, Business Unit Executive for Unified Communications at ATIO.

“Gartner predicts that by the end of 2011, IM will be the de facto tool for voice, video and text chat, with 95% of workers in leading global organisations using it as their primary interface for real-time communications by 2013. IM is used routinely by millions of workers to expedite or facilitate all sorts of business transactions. Properly managed and integrated into business workflows, IM has the potential to dramatically increase a company's ability to operate as a real-time enterprise.”

ATIO has assisted many organisations realise the benefit of real-time communications through Microsoft Lync, and is now offering a deployment package to all Core CAL customers that will assist in the deployment process.
