Attachmate Reflection Suite for X 2011 offers standardised host access in single multipurpose solution

Next-generation X Server product enables secure access to mission-critical, graphically-rich applications on Unix and Linux platforms from any Windows desktop.

Johannesburg, 07 Dec 2010

Attachmate Corporation today announced the availability of the newest version of Attachmate Reflection Suite for X 2011, Attachmate's next-generation X Server product that enables organisations to securely access text-based and 2D/3D graphics applications on Unix and Linux systems, as well as mission-critical applications on IBM's System i and System z platforms from any Windows desktop.

The newest version includes the latest X Server technology, next-generation terminal emulation software and a secure file transfer client, all in a single deployment package to enable globally-dispersed businesses to be productive, no matter where their workers are located.

X Windows applications on the Unix platform are leveraged by enterprises to accomplish mission-critical tasks, including product manufacturing, chip design, oil exploration, network management and financial data simulations.

Reflection Suite for X 2011 provides access to these applications from Windows, Linux, Unix and Mac desktops and includes technologies that enable better performance over remote connections and session sharing with remote workers who collaborate on projects. The solution also provides support for the latest industry virtualisation platforms from Citrix, Microsoft and VMware, and allows IT managers to easily manage complex security requirements by providing the latest data encryption updates in its SSL/TLS and SSH components. Reflection Suite for X 2011 also includes a new, centralised utility for easier certificate management for organisations with PKI implementations.

“Reflection Suite for X 2011 offers the most comprehensive standardised host access to rich, graphical applications in a single, powerful, multipurpose solution to give remote users more flexibility and project continuity when accessing these applications from different locations,” said Kris Lall, product marketing manager for Attachmate. “Additionally, as organisations continue to look towards migrating to the Windows 7 platform, Attachmate remains committed to providing our customers the most advanced Windows 7-ready technology that maximises their Microsoft investment.”

Reflection Suite for X 2011 helps organisations manage IT complexity through a single deployment that meets the full spectrum of host access needs with new features and functionality, including:
