Attachmate Corporation today unveiled the latest version of its mainframe application integration solution, Attachmate Verastream Host Integrator 6.6. The new version includes new features and functionality that eliminate the technical complexity and code generation associated with legacy integration, offering IT organisations a low-risk, low-cost approach to legacy-to-SOA integration. The addition of Federal Information Processing Standards (Fips) validation by the National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) provide enhanced security, a requirement for any cryptographic product that will be used in a U.S. government agency network and is critical for working with strategic federal government accounts.
Verastream Host Integrator 6.6 provides a flexible, scalable approach to service-oriented application integration that quickly and non-invasively service-enables all types of mainframe and enterprise host functionality.
"Integrating legacy applications into a service oriented architecture (SOA) environment is traditionally viewed as an extremely complex process that requires developers with significant expertise," said Eric Varness, vice president of marketing for Attachmate. "Verastream Host Integrator 6.6 software modernises mainframe functionality to help alleviate many of the challenges associated with legacy integration, simplifying the process whether it's within Web, mobile or contact centre applications solutions environments."
Varness stated, "By transforming mainframe applications into SOA assets without disturbing valuable code or associated business processes, Verastream Host Integrator 6.6 offers developers, IT managers and systems programmers an easy-to-use solution that auto-generates services and Web-user interfaces, hiding the complexities of the mainframe environment. In addition, the product provides strong support for industry standard environments such as J2EE, .NET, and Web Services application platforms to provide IT organisations with flexibility and choice."
A Low-Risk, Low-Cost Approach to SOA integration
Verastream Host Integrator 6.6 includes several new additions to further enhance the product's ability to simplify and speed the participation of mainframe applications in SOA's including:
* Team modelling
The enhanced model import functionality allows multiple developers to work on a single model and import needed portions of one project into other projects.
* Native
.NET client support .NET client support enables Verastream Host Integrator 6.6 to work seamlessly with 32 and 64-bit operating systems.
* Fips validation
Crypto libraries are now validated and Fips certified by the NIST, providing compliance with the organisation's security and data-protection guidelines. Many federal government agencies mandate that sensitive data be encrypted with this standard.
* WS-I compliant Web services
WS-I compliant Web services provide flexibility to accommodate new standards and capabilities of the Web services specification. This ensures compatibility with other standards-based SOA infrastructure such as Enterprise Service Bus, SOA governance, and business process management tools.
* Windows Server 2008 support
In addition to supporting a variety of server platforms including Linux, Solaris and AIX, Verastream Host Integrator 6.6 extends its support to the Windows Server 2008 platform.
