Avaya Inc finished 5.5 points ahead of the nearest competitor in global enterprise telephony market share for the first quarter, according to Dell `Oro Group`s IP Telephony Enterprise Report, 1Q06.
Avaya completed its sixth consecutive quarter of leadership in this market according to Dell `Oro, with 20.3% of market revenues, exceeding overall market growth. The report`s enterprise telephony measurement includes both Internet Protocol (IP) telephony and traditional telephony revenues.
Says Bridget Kelly, country manager of Avaya for Sub-Saharan Africa: "This is a milestone achievement for Avaya; we have pulled ahead of our competitors by the largest margin in our company`s history. This affirms that intelligent communications can positively increase business success."

According to the report, Avaya also exceeded industry growth in telephony line shipments for the quarter, posting a 3.5% increase in line shipments during this period and gaining one point of market share from the previous quarter.
