Avaya selects Germany for new centre of excellence

* Frankfurt will be a Global Centre of Excellence for innovation and solution development * Avaya Tenovis now operates as Avaya in Germany

Avaya has selected Frankfurt, Germany for a new Global Centre of Excellence dedicated to product and solution development, furthering its commitment to the European market. The centre combines the company`s Bell Labs heritage with the wealth of expertise in Avaya Labs and Tenovis. Avaya teams in Germany are leading the company`s global development efforts in critical product and solution areas, including DECT technology, handset design and contact centre applications.

Building on Avaya`s commitment to the European market and the growing recognition of the Avaya brand, the company also said Avaya Tenovis will now be known in Germany as Avaya. Avaya customers worldwide are expected to strengthen their association with the brand this summer during the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany, when Avaya will serve as the official convergence communication provider for the world`s largest sporting event. Avaya is a leading global provider of business communications, applications, systems and services.

Avaya has also established a compatibility testing lab in Germany to support continued global growth of its developer connection (DevConnect) programme, which promotes development, testing and co-marketing of third-party products that are compatible with Avaya solutions. Member organisations have expertise in a range of technology, including IP telephony, contact centres and mobility applications. Avaya`s DevConnect solution interoperability and test lab in Germany supports compliance testing for a range of Avaya IP telephony platforms, including Avaya Communication Manager, Avaya IP Office and the I5 and I55 IP-PBX systems. Avaya Communication Manager is a software platform that provides support for open Web services-based applications development to let developers easily create next-generation business communications applications.

Avaya`s EMEA operations draw significant experience in the small and medium size business segment from the Tenovis heritage and the German centre of excellence plays a global role in the development of products and solutions for this customer type. In addition, the centre is focused on the development of tailored solutions for key vertical markets, including financial services, healthcare and leisure.
