Avaya`s INDeX Communication Server now available in United Arab Emirates through Seven Seas

Johannesburg, 16 Oct 2001

Avaya a global leader in corporate communications networking solutions and services, has announced the availability of its INDeX Communication Server in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) via Seven Seas, an Avaya BusinessPartner. Targeted at mid-sized companies, Avaya`s INDeX is capable of handling a range of voice, data, video conferencing and call centre requirements.

Walter Koenig, Avaya`s regional managing director, Middle East, North Africa and South Eastern Europe, commented: "Avaya`s INDeX is focused on companies requiring enhanced networking and supports small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as branch offices of large businesses as they evolve towards an e-business-ready communications infrastructure. Given the fast growing UAE call centre market, we believe its introduction via Seven Seas is very timely."

Building on its strong European SME offering, particularly highlighted in the UK where Avaya holds a leading position in the PBX market, Avaya`s strategy is to offer SMEs a range of solutions which enable them to quickly benefit from advanced communications - such as IP telephony - as a strategic asset to improve their bottom line.

"The success of INDeX is based on the many advantages the platform offers users. These include deployment versatility, scalability, easy to implement upgrades, low cost of ownership as well as a cordless technology solution that ensures staff who are constantly on the move can always be reached," said Mark Richards, general manager, Seven Seas.

The full range of INDeX handsets/telephone systems will be shown on the Seven Seas stand at Gitex 2001 (Hall 7, stand R7-1), with a link up to a monitor demonstrating how incoming calls are managed. A section of the stand will also feature the integration of CRM software with INDeX. Tours, via complimentary transportation, to see a live INDeX call centre demonstration at Seven Seas` Dubai offices will be available throughout the event.

By combining leading-edge computer and telecoms technologies, INDeX offers huge versatility and enables a business to improve business processes and enhance customer service levels. The modular and flexible communications gateway not only provides basic telephony solutions such as key systems, PBXs and wireless telephony but also a range of high-end applications, such as call centres, voice processing, messaging, computer telephony integration, and data and video switching for single sites as well as a networked multi-site environment.

Avaya recently announced new IP capabilities for its INDeX platform enabling remote locations and desktops to be connected over IP. The range of new INDeX applications includes IP-enabled call centre solutions to support home-based agents, and also offers SMEs the possibility to distribute call centre functionality across multiple locations by linking up their INDeX systems over IP. Additionally, INDeX terminals can be IP-enabled to allow companies to capitalise on efficiency and cost savings through using a single converged infrastructure within the local area network. The new INDeX IP capabilities will also allow similar savings and seamless integration across the wide area for home workers, remote offices and branch offices.
