Aviva intros BC plan template

Aviva has introduced a free business continuity (BC) plan template for businesses in the technology sector, reports Post Online.

The document has been drawn up by a team of business interruption surveyors at Aviva, and outlines steps that should be taken in the event of a disaster, such as fire or a terrorist attack, to help technology businesses recover more quickly after an incident.

Martin Payton, senior underwriter at Aviva, says: “The latest figures show that the technology sector is bucking wider economic trends, growing by 80% in the past five years.

Ukraine gets $3.5m for centre

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is investing $3.5 million in equity in Ukraine's De Novo to help create a centre that will use energy-efficient technologies to improve data and the local information technology infrastructure, says FinChannel.

This is IFC's first investment in Ukraine's IT sector. "Data centres are an important part of the IT infrastructure needed to grow and attract companies with high-skilled workforces," IFC reports.

“By establishing this data centre, we will become the first specialised IT services company in Ukraine to provide business continuity services to our clients,” says Maxim Ageyev, De Novo CEO.

Fusion-io unveils new software

Fusion-io has unveiled the Fusion ioSphere Platform, a software suite that helps manage and enhance its solid-state drive memory cards, states Search Storage.

The suite includes ioManager to configure and manage Fusion ioMemory devices installed in a server, ioDirector to monitor and track allocation of ioMemory resources.

Another is the direct cache that lets ioMemory act as a cache to any disk array, storage area network or direct-attached storage. The software suite will be available early in 2011.
