SCS Distribution, local distributor of Axis Communication, today announced the release of the Axis 292 Network Video decoder.
The AXIS 292 Network Video Decoder can convert one stream of MPEG-2 or Motion JPEG video and audio from an Axis network video product into analogue signals. This allows analogue video devices such as regular TV sets, analogue monitors and existing analogue video switches to be connected to an Axis IP-based video system.
Via an Ethernet network such as a LAN or corporate network, the AXIS 292 takes a stream of digital video and audio from a specified Axis network camera or video server, and converts it in real-time into high quality, analogue signals.
When used in combination with Axis video servers (such as the AXIS 250S MPEG-2), AXIS 292 decoders can quickly and cost-effectively connect two analogue systems at different locations via a LAN/MAN/WAN Ethernet network. Users would be able to use existing video matrices and other analogue technology to receive video and audio from distant analogue cameras or systems as though they were placed locally with the operator even though they might be located in a different city.
The AXIS 292 is ideal for retail applications, campus security and city centre surveillance.
