SCS Distribution, the sole distributor in southern Africa for Axis Communications, today announced that the latter had signed an agreement with solution partner Consafe Infotech for the delivery of a large number of AXIS 9010 Bluetooth* Access Points. The access points will be an integrated part of a public Hot Spot-service that Chilean ISP Blue2Chile will operate in some of the country`s major cities.
Axis continues to strengthen its position as a leading provider of Bluetooth access points. This order follows a number of orders in 2002 for Hot Spot and Home automation solutions. The access points delivered to Blue2Chile will make the Internet available for customers at for example airports and hotels in Chile, in so-called Hot Spots. Initially these Hot Spots will be installed in major cities like Santiago and Concepci'on.
"Hot Spots with access points are a natural complement to 3G technology for delivering mobile broadband access. And as the number of devices utilizing Bluetooth and WLAN rapidly increases, the market for solutions like this is growing at a fast rate," says Thomas Barge, CEO at Consafe Infotech Syd.
