Axiz announces immediate availability of HP`s new Compaq N1050v notebook

Johannesburg, 05 Feb 2003

Axiz has announced the immediate availability of HP`s new Compaq N1050v notebook, the follow-up to HP`s highly successful HP Omnibook XE4500 range.

Targeted specifically at small and medium-sized businesses, the new N1050v, which combines superior functionality and value is the first notebook to be released after the HP/Compaq merger. It uses a similar chassis to the HP Omnibook XE4500 but boasts a silver finish and the Compaq logo.

The N1050v features bright 14- or 15-inch screens, an ATI Mobility Radeon graphics controller with 16MB or 32MB of DDR SDRAM to handle high-demand 2D or 3D applications, an S-video port for crisp image projection to a television, two USB connectors and one IEEE-1394 port.

"The scroll pad provides fast, intuitive navigation while a touch pad on/off button prevents accidental typing; five user-programmable instant-launch keys ensure a high level of usability," states Margie Adam, HP PSG product manager at Axiz. "The N1050v best features are its performance and its price. Combined with ready availability through Axiz, we expect this product to virtually sell itself," she adds.

"SA is one of only six countries in EMEA to have this product and Axiz has lots of this model in stock now. The N1050v has a retail price point of approximately R17 599 including VAT for a P4-mobile 1.8GHz CPU 256MB machine with 30GB RAM and a DVD/CD-Writer, a 15.1-inch TFT Screen and FDD 56K modem and LAN card installed, running Microsoft XP-Pro," Adam concludes.
