Leading IT infrastructure distributor, Axiz, has launched the HP iPAQ rx1950. With its cost-effective price, users will enjoy the HP iPAQ rx1950`s ability to operate at WiFi hotspots, keeping them connected to the world. As with most other pocket PCs, it features handwriting recognition, the ability to play MP3s and videos and record voice notes.
"As an integrated wireless pocket PC, users can stay connected to their world. It features Microsoft Windows Mobile Version 5.0 software for access to a Personal Information Manager (PIM) software package, which enables users to attach a photo to a contact, track busy schedules and save information, even when the battery is removed," says Subashnie Naidoo, HP iPAQ product manager, Axiz.
Windows Mobile 5.0, Microsoft`s latest operating system, also enables all data and applications to be stored in the flash memory which will survive a complete battery rundown. The operating system allows open programs to be loaded into RAM so that operating system files can be cached there to improve response times. It also offers a mobile version of PowerPoint that only opens and run PowerPoint presentations.
Mobile Office Suite is another software package included with the HP iPAQ rx1950. It includes Outlook Mobile and desktop Outlook, Windows Media Player Mobile 10, Terminal Services, Pocket MSN, File Explorer, handwriting recognition and games, to name a few features.
The HP iPAQ rx1950 runs on a 300MHz Samsung SC32442 processor that is fully compatible with Acorn Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) Machine (ARM) and RISC microprocessor (XScale) and operates well for business and Internet tasks. It also features 96MB of total memory with 64MB for read-only memory (ROM) and 32MB for synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM), while offering up to 33MB for persistent storage memory.
"For wireless Web surfing, the HP iPAQ rx1950 has an 802.11b WiFi button that launches the wireless application. Users can view the current network status, a list of the access points in range, and set proxy settings as needed," indicates Naidoo.
With a 3.5-inch transflective thin film transistor (TFT) quarter video graphics array (QVGA) colour display, the HP iPAQ rx1950 is capable of displaying 65 536 colours and has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels for quality display viewing. Other standard features include an integrated microphone, speaker and one 3.5mm stereo headphone jack. The HP iPAQ rx1950 also comes standard with a removable/rechargeable 1100mAh lithium-ion battery and a one-year part and labour warranty as well as 90 days` technical support on the software.
