Axiz introduces Secure Digital High-Capacity 4GB card

Johannesburg, 02 Nov 2006

Leading IT infrastructure distributor, Axiz, has announced the launch of a new range of Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) Class 2 cards from Kingston. The new SDHC memory cards are available in 4GB capacities.

"Although identical in size to the standard SD card, the new SDHC cards will be able to handle the huge levels of images and data that today's digital cameras and MP3 players are capable of delivering," explains Caroline Macharia, flash memory product manager, Axiz.

"Moreover, they are designed to work with the latest SDHC compatible devices that support MPEG-4 and high quality video compression, commonly found in consumer HD and DVD videos, super VCD, box top DVRs and digital television."

The SDHC card is a new standard set by the SD Card Association, the industry body responsible for defining SD performance classifications and capacities. Based on this standard, the SDHC cards can deliver capacities beyond the 2GB threshold of present day SD cards, offering three speed classes (Class 2, 4 and 6). This guarantees minimum sustained transfer rates to support large digital video recordings for optimum performance.

SDHC cards are only compatible with SDHC host devices and manufacturers currently offering host cameras include: Canon, Pentax, Sanyo, Casio and Nikon. Axiz has also added SDHC compatibility to the popular 15-in-1 Card Reader from Kingston.

Kingston Technology's Secure Digital cards are 100% tested and backed by a lifetime warranty.
