The series consists of the ASUS EAX1900XTX/2DHTV/512MB, ASUS EAX1900XT/2DHTV/512MB graphics card and the ASUS EAX1900CrossFire/2DH/512MB Master Card. "The ASUS EAX1900CrossFire/2DH/512MB Master Card delivers ATI`s Radeon X1900CF VPU and 512M of double data rate three (DDR3) graphics memory. It employs a high density cable interconnect (VHDCI) to connect members of the X1900 series, Radeon X1900XTX or Radeon X1900XT VPU for enhanced gaming performance of up to two times that of a single card configuration," explains De Beer.
When a card of the ASUS EAX1900 series or the ASUS EAX1900CrossFire/2DH/512MB Master Card are linked up, three different methods to split the rendering load between them are possible. These methods include supertiling, scissor and alternate frame rendering. Supertiling is only supported by Direct3D applications and divides the display into 32x32 pixel squares, of which each card renders alternate tiles. Both Direct3D and OpenGL applications can benefit from the scissor model as the screen is split horizontally in half. Alternate frame rending occurs when two cards take turns rendering the frames.
GameReplay, a popular feature enjoyed at local area network (LAN) party team games where strategy is key to victory, forms part of the ASUS EAX1900 series and ASUS EAX1900CrossFire/2DH/512MB Master Card. This feature records gaming action into MPEG4 video files that can be used as screen savers or posted on blogs so teams can review all moves and tactics made. For expert gamers that want to show off their executed strategies and five-hit combinations, both the ASUS EAX1900 series and ASUS EAX1900CrossFire/2DH/512MB Master Card offer GameLiveShow. It enables gamers to stream broadcast their gaming experience live over the Internet.
GameFace Messenger is yet another feature offered and has a user-friendly interface to simplify the process of inviting multiple players to gameferences: "All gamers need to do is register and log onto GameFace Messenger to start the fun."
Built into the driver of the ASUS graphics cards is Splendid Video Intelligence Technology that detects activation and usage of video applications. It automatically optimises image quality for the best visual results and includes standard, game, theatre, scenery and night modes.
The ASUS EAX1900 series offers users 512MB DDR3 of video memory, an engine clock speed of 650MHz and a 256-bit memory interface. It is also equipped with dual DVI-I, a standard 15-pin VGA output, as well as a 16-lane PCI express bus standard. The series is also equipped with a software bundle that includes a CD leather case, King Kong, ASUS GamePack, SNOWBLIND, Power Director Three and Media Show.
