Axiz lets you lighten your load with affordable mobile USB storage

Johannesburg, 28 Mar 2007

Axiz, leading IT infrastructure distributor, unveils Kingston's new DataTraveler ReadyFlash (DTR) enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost.

Designed and tested by Kingston Technology to the precise performance specifications by Microsoft, the DataTraveler ReadyFlash is ideal for home office and small business use.

According to Caroline Macharia, Axiz flash memory product manager, adding system memory is the best way to increase performance: "Windows ReadyBoost enables the system to utilise another memory source in addition to DRAM for processing data and applications."

For instance, if a notebook has a maximum memory capacity of 1GB installed, Windows ReadyBoost allows for usage of a Flash memory device with ReadyBoost, such as DataTraveler ReadyFlash, as a more responsive storage medium for Windows ReadyBoost cache.

"Windows ReadyBoost technology improves a system performance because it can retrieve data kept on the flash memory faster, decreasing PC response time," comments Macharia.

"To meet the performance requirements and capacity threshold for ReadyBoost, the Flash drive must support USB 2.0 and meet minimum speed requirements. For example, the USB drive must have a write speed of 5MB/s or higher."

The Kingston DataTraveler meets the speed requirements for Windows Vista ReadyBoost and performs well above the required capacity threshold, enabling convenient, quick file storage and data transferring. Available in storage capacities of 1GB and 2GB, the Kingston DataTraveler Reader is compatible with both Mac (OS 10.x or higher) and Windows. Recommended retail prices are R299 for 1GB, and R499 for the 2GB DataTraveler Reader.
