With its smaller chassis, better CPUs (central processing units), and the latest technology when it comes to HDD and DVD-RW, HP`s dx7400 is setting a formidable standard for locally assembled desktops.
Stefanie Bosman, product manager: HP desktops and monitors, Axiz, says that it more than addresses the needs of its market, proving a superior replacement to its predecessor: the HP dx7300.
When it comes to performance, the dx7400 is set to impress. Fitting into HP`s range between the dx2300 (entry level) and dc7800 (high end corporate model), Bosman says the dx7400 is packed with the latest features.
"The dx7400 is ideal for anyone looking for a no frills, high performance business desktop with the latest cutting-edge technology. It has an Intel Q33 chipset, which drives front-side bus performance to 1 333MHz."
Bosman adds that the dx7400 additionally features Core 2 Duo processors, meaning it can accommodate up to 8GB of 667MHz DDR2 memory. Speeds of up to 3GHz are thus also made possible.
Probably the best news for potential buyers, however, is the dx7400`s price. "Because HP has recently consolidated all of its chassis purchases, it`s managed to reduce its end-user price considerably by passing these new economies of scale onto consumers. Coupled with the fact that the model shares a wider range of components with other locally assembled offerings, consumers look set to benefit from the very competitive retail price."
Because of its intelligent combination of cutting-edge technology, new chassis ID and competitive pricing, the dx7400 promises to impact both the SME and corporate markets. It`s also guaranteed to do its bit for the South African economy as it`s assembled locally. Users will thus be able to improve their office or home performance while supporting our home IT industry simultaneously.
