Baan SA, a vendor of enterprise resource planning , launched its E-Enterprise suite of applications at a media function held at its Midrand offices yesterday.

"Various trends exist in e-business today, including the growing number of Web-enabled projects, personalisation for clients and, perhaps most importantly, driving the total cost of ownership (TCO) down," said Steve Green, technologies director at Baan SA.

"Integration is important to bring the TCO down, so we need to offer applications that can be fully integrated as well as operate on their own.

"The E-Enterprise suite of applications was designed with exactly this goal in mind," noted Green. "These applications span the entire value chain as well as provide a faster time to market for companies."

E-Enterprise consists of three primary applications, E-Sales, E-Collaboration and E-Procurement.

"E-Sales is a complete online sales solution that features secure access, personalisation, a multimedia catalogue, product configuration, Web order entry and self-," said Green.

E-Collaboration enables employees and business partners to interact online in real-time. Essentially, the application is an XML-based supply-chain collaboration solution that will provide greater access to enterprise information.

The third application, E-Procurement, is an intranet-based indirect procurement solution that automates the largely paper-based process of purchasing office supplies and maintenance, repair and operating sales items.
