VERITAS Software`s NetBackup data protection software has added backup and recovery support for NAS file servers from Procom Technology and Internet messaging servers from Mirapoint.
NetBackup offers existing support for Network Appliance, EMC and Auspex NAS devices.
"As organisations increasingly choose network-attached storage appliances to meet specific file- and data-sharing needs, the ability to protect the information on those appliances becomes critical," says Nick van Noordwyk, regional director, Middle East and Africa at VERITAS Software.
VERITAS NetBackup NDMP, a software agent that works with VERITAS NetBackup DataCenter, utilises the Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) to communicate with and provide backup and recovery services for appliances such as the newly supported Procom NetFORCE 3000 and the Mirapoint Internet Message Server.
Procom`s NAS filers provide data availability, scalability and simplified storage consolidation as well as management across multiple platforms. Mirapoints Internet Message Server helps companies to streamline and simplify their Internet messaging communications. "These are rapidly becoming core-messaging infrastructure for organisations," concludes Van Noordwyk.
