The study shows that 75% of private-sector colleges and universities see increased demand for online programmes do to the economic downturn.

According to Tech Journal South, more than 60% of academic leaders at private-sector colleges and universities say online learning is critical to their long-term strategies and have included it in their formal strategic plans, the according the Babson survey.

The report, 'Online Learning Trends in Private-Sector Colleges and Universities,' is a new analysis of the collected for the annual Sloan Survey of Online Learning.

“The study's findings highlight the unique opportunities and challenges that higher leaders are currently facing,” says Don Kilburn, CEO of Pearson Learning Solutions.
