Banco do Brasil selects Diebold

Diebold is further strengthening its presence in the South American financial self-service market through a recent agreement with Brazil's largest financial institution, reports Market Watch.

In the agreement, Diebold will provide approximately 3 500 model CD, 4 500 cash dispenser ATMs and 1 900 cheque book printing terminals to Banco do Brasil, assisting the financial institution in achieving its goals to expand its network, reduce transaction costs and offer customers greater convenience and accessibility.

The new ATMs, which are replacing older units, will include advanced technology, such as an encrypted Pin pad and advanced skimming device technologies, electronic access control to open the upper cabinet door of the ATMs and safe-locking capabilities, which involve a trigger that freezes the safe's mechanism when the lock is drilled, punched or torched.

ATM market study under way

Edgar, Dunn & Company, an independent global financial services and payments consultancy, has started its Australian ATM Market Study 2008, the first comprehensive study of its kind to be conducted for the Australian ATM industry, according to PR Newswire.

The study, slated for completion in November 2008, will survey a wide cross-section of ATM deployers, key ATM service providers and industry experts.

It is structured to provide meaningful benchmarking on deployment economics, market share, analysis of industry trends and issues and insight into Australia's ATM market structure and dynamics.

Bibliotheca introduces BiblioHybrid systems

Switzerland-based Bibliotheca RFID Library Systems has introduced its BiblioHybrid systems, offering libraries a solution for security and patron self-service needs, says RFID News.

BiblioHybrid solutions feature Bibliotheca's BiblioChip RFID technology, but also work with electromagnetic bar code and other RFID systems to ease the transition to RFID.

BiblioGate Hybrid security gates trigger alarms when patrons attempt to exit without properly checking out materials, detecting library materials fitted with EM bar codes and RFID tags.
