Bateleur Software Solutions is promising organisations time savings of up to 96% with the launch of ZIPDITTO, its mainframe zip utility software. The company is also offering free trial versions of the product so that prospective clients can try it out before purchasing.
Trevor Toye, technical consultant at Bateleur, says ZIPDITTO achieves enormous time and productivity savings for any file which needs to be retrieved, compressed, backed up or transmitted as an FTP file.
"Any company which has time problems with backing up, recovering or extracting files from a database or data warehouse and transmitting them will benefit hugely by implementing ZIPDITTO," he says. "One of our pilot sites, a leading financial services firm, has cut its transmission time for a file between Johannesburg and Cape Town from 30 hours to three hours and 20 minutes with ZIPDITTO."
According to Toye, Bateleur developed the product in recognition of the need for a more efficient way to move data from one platform to another. "This can be time-consuming and tedious, but it`s also critically important for every large organisation," he points out. "Because it has been written specifically to handle columnar data, ZIPDITTO achieves a dramatically high rate of compression in an incredibly short time."
