BlackBerry continues to reorganise its management team with the appointment of Eric Johnson as new president of global sales.
Johnson joins BlackBerry from SAP, where he served as senior VP and GM for global database and technology. He spent the preceding years in a similar role at Sybase, where he managed sales and customer services.
He faces a stern task to help BlackBerry strengthen its position in a market dominated by larger rivals Apple and Samsung.
BlackBerry CEO John Chen worked with Johnson during his time at SAP and says he has "tremendous respect for his sales expertise and customer-centric approach to business".
Johnson is the latest executive who has previous experience with Chen, after James Yersh was appointed CFO, James Mackey took the helm of corporate development, and Mark Wilson was named senior VP for marketing.
"The experience that the majority of the new leadership team has in working together previously will drive change within the organisation at a faster pace," says Chen.
Johnson's appointment comes a week after the company appointed Ron Louks as president of devices and emerging solutions.
