BBC staff have lost 241 019 pounds worth of laptops and mobiles over the past two years, a Freedom of Information request has revealed, reports IT Pro Portal.

According to BBC News, a total of 65 mobile phones, 17 BlackBerry smartphones and 146 laptop devices have been reported lost or stolen by BBC employees over the two year period.

The information, released by the organisation, included from every BBC subsidiary.

Apple revamp to alloy gadgets

Future iPhones, iPods, and other Apple-flavored gadgets may be made out of "amorphous" metal alloys thanks to a deal that Apple has made with Liquidmetal Technologies, says Ars Technica.

Liquidmetal revealed that it has entered into an exclusive agreement with Apple via a filing it made with the and Exchange Commission, giving Apple access to its entire intellectual property portfolio.

Liquidmetal's technology is used in the fields of sports, medicine, space, jewellery and electronics.

Best Buy developing a tablet

Best Buy appears to be working on its own rebranded tablet, according the company's chief technology officer, writes PC Mag.

On August 4, Robert Stevens, Best Buy's chief technology officer and the founder of its Geek Squad, posted a pair of photos to his Twitter feed, one of which showed a pair of tablets.

Stevens later noted that the two tablets were just form-factor mockups. "It's just a form factor proto[type]. Not guts inside, but coming soon," he added.
