BCA Barcode Alliance has launched the latest high-speed SATO GT e-series range of industrial barcode printers. BCA is the leading distributor of SATO printers in South African market.
"We are excited about what this industrial barcode printer can offer the local market. The defining features of the GT class of SATO printer is its optimisation of printer throughput, the production of quality labels, and its user-friendliness as a integrated stand-alone printer," said Bob Cork, managing director at BCA Barcode Alliance.
As a stand-alone application enabler, labels are pre-designed and printed without requiring an interface with other devices such as a desktop computer. The unique attributes of the printer are: its 100 mm graphical display screen with a menu, its programming language, SEMBL - Sato Embedded BASIC Language, and 8MB or 20MB memory cartridges. The LCD offers an interface for the creation of labels, including the viewing of code, while the memory cartridges enable the storage of data, such as logos, on the printer itself. These features ensure increased throughput of the SATO GT series of printers as the machine does not process data from other external devices.
"Increasing the speed of a print run during a work day is a key requirement for clients with industrial labeling needs. While other industrial printers in the market offer a throughput of a maximum of 203 mm per second, the SATO GT e-series produces quality labels at 305 mm per second", said Cork.
The printer's user-friendliness also offers further benefits. It has plug-ins to a computer, scanner or scale if required. The printer is also designed with client needs in mind: the configuration print heads between one of three dpi settings as well as changing head pressure to optimize printing can all be undertaken without needing to call out a technician to adjust printer settings.
The printer is geared to optimising labelling in three key markets, namely: shipping and receiving labels for distributors, stock and component labels for inventory management for warehousing operations, and product label and tracking labels for businesses within supply chains.
Several printers have already been successfully sold to South African companies since October 2005. In the case of a local manufacturer of brushware and plasticware, the decision to purchase the SATO GT e-series printers was based on print speed. The manufacturer replaced a slow legacy system with a new barcode printer and has seen increased labeling as well as the optimizing of the production. In addition, subsequent to installation of the SATO GT printer, the only follow-up maintenance has been the servicing of the machine.
"The SATO GT printer range of are real workhorses. Once it is installed it does its job. The printer is low-maintenance and competitively priced in the high-end industrial printer market, offering more features than any other in its class," said Bob Cork, managing director of BCA Barcode Alliance.
