SA-based Broadband Communication Technologies (BCT) Global has launched a WiFi-based asset-tracking solution for real-time location of assets and people.
Sadiq Malik, business development director at BCT Global, says the Aeroscout Visibility System uses standard WiFi networks to locate and track valuable assets such as equipment or people, using small AeroScout tags, or any 802.11-enabled wireless device, such as laptops and barcode scanners.
He says the solution can be implemented at a low cost, as most customers already have a wireless network in their businesses.
Malik says implementing applications that track valuable assets has become a priority. The AeroScout solution is designed for the healthcare and automobile industries, as well as yard management, including supply chains and the container industry.
"Our customers have requirements that range from accurate real-time asset location, vehicle telemetry, automated inventory counts and personnel tracking, therefore they need a single wireless infrastructure that can do it all," he says.
