Botswana Diamond Valuing Company (BDVC), a member of the Debswana Diamond Company, was one of the first organisations in Botswana to install ISDN Primary Rate. After serious consideration and with the assistance of Unihold, BDVC chose Netcom CRM and Mitel as the preferred equipment suppliers.
Netcom CRM is a leading-edge provider of next-generation IP telephony solutions. The company creates advanced communication solutions and applications in the areas of speech recognition, wireless mobility, unified messaging and customer interaction solutions.
BDVC is owned by the Debswana Diamond company, which is Botswana`s largest employer, employing more than 6000 people. Debswana operates the Orapa diamond mine, the Letlhakane diamond mine, the Jwaneng diamond mine, and Teemane Manufacturing Co, Serowe, which is involved in cutting and polishing diamonds. No fewer than 18 million carats of diamonds are produced annually from the three diamond mines.
BDVC utilised the services of Unihold in South Africa to assist in the supplier selection process. Unihold`s managing director David Rocke says, "Key deciding factors on selecting Netcom CRM and Mitel were local market presence, reliability and value-for-money. Mitel has an established name in the Botswana marketplace. Netcom CRM also did the installation at Debswana head office in Gaborone - another company that was impressed with Mitel and the support service that Netcom CRM Botswana provided."
Equipment used in the installation included the Mitel SX2000, a superset digital handset and Mitel integrated voicemail. The SX 2000 is an enterprise PBX telephone system featuring rich modular functionality, unlimited scalability, centralised management, and sophisticated networking. The proven Mitel Networks` SX-2000 PBX telephone system delivers feature rich communications to users across the enterprise while providing the scalability, networking support, and centralised management demanded by today`s dynamic large enterprises.
According to Gary Shepherd, Chief Operating Officer International of Netcom CRM, the company has firmly established itself in the Botswana market and continues to strengthen its position by expanding the business and employing local Botswana staff, in accordance with Netcom CRM`s worldwide policy to utilise local resources.
Netcom CRM management boasts a long association with Mitel that spans almost 20 years. "Mitel still leads the market in innovation, reliability and protection of customer investment," says Shepherd.
Mitel EMEAAP managing director Graham Bevington added "the Debswana Diamond Company and BVDC both have a long and happy history using Mitel equipment and we value them as very important customers. Our clients in Botswana also include several major banks, an installed base of about 200 Mitel SX-series products. I believe our success in the market has been due to Mitel policy of protection of investment for our customers, high quality control which has lead to high reliability and most important, we listen to the needs and requirements of our customers."
