BEA continues to garner industry accolades for delivering innovations that drive developer productivity

Johannesburg, 03 May 2004

Through industry-recognised innovations provided by BEA WebLogic Workshop, BEA continues to help drive increased developer productivity, with products designed to allow developers to more rapidly build and deploy emerging, high-value technologies including Web services and service-oriented architectures (SOAs).

BEA WebLogic Workshop can simplify Java development, helping developers to increase their overall value to a company, while helping to decrease project costs.

Underscoring this concept, BEA recently was awarded a 2004 Software Magazine Jolt Productivity Award, honouring the company for helping to make the task of creating software faster, easier and more efficient.

BEA WebLogic Workshop is a full-featured Java development environment designed to enable developers to visually build and assemble enterprise-scale Web applications, Web services, JSPs, portals, EJBs, and process workflows. First released in March 2003, BEA WebLogic Workshop is helping to revolutionise Java development by making J2EE accessible to any developer - not just J2EE experts. BEA WebLogic Workshop can provide a unified, service-oriented development environment for rapid application assembly and greater re-use of business best practices. As a result, BEA WebLogic Workshop can help increase development and application integration speed and flexibility.

Other recent awards include CRN`s Test Center selected BEA WebLogic Workshop as the most innovative development tool of 2003. "When compared with other composite application development tools, WebLogic Workshop blew away the competition in code generation," CRN wrote. To pick the best products of 2003, the CRN Test Center`s engineers re-examined all of the products reviewed throughout the year, searching specifically for products that offered overall innovation and the most integration opportunities for solution providers, backed by support-rich channel programmes.

Furthermore, readers of two leading technology publications have chosen BEA software for eight `Oscars of the Software Industry`, according to SYS-CON Media.

Nominees and winners for the Oscars of the Software Industry, otherwise known as the SYS-CON Media Readers` Choice Awards, are selected through reader-submitted nominations, followed by online voting. The polls were open for just under a year, from 1 March 2003, through 31 December 2003.
