BEA to present integration vision, Linux strategies at BrainShare 2004

BEA will present in three different forums at Novell`s BrainShare 2004, to be held from 26 to 28 May at the Sandton Convention Centre.
Johannesburg, 24 May 2004

On Wednesday, 26 May, Malcolm Freeman, Principal Architect with BEA Solution Africa, will address the BusinessShare audience on integration challenges. In his presentation, 'Service-oriented architecture - the key to successful integration?`, he will consider the reasons why the majority of integration projects fail, and will then move on to shed some light on what lies behind one of the latest industry buzzwords, namely services-oriented architecture (SOA). He will conclude by examining what is promised by adopting such an architecture in an integration environment.

The Thursday keynote sees vendors, including BEA, position their technologies with respect to Linux as a platform of choice for production environments. Edward Lane, Technical Manager of BEA Solutions Africa, will cover BEA`s JVM, WebLogic jRockit and how it is enabling large and small enterprises alike to reduce their total cost of ownership of J2EE solutions by improving the price/performance ratio of the hardware and operating systems on which J2EE applications are deployed.

On Thursday afternoon, Ezra Kahimbaara, one of BEA`s Systems Engineers, will host a two-hour workshop, targeted at developers, analysts, administrators and anyone interested in using WebLogic on SUSE Linux. The hands-on workshop will cover the configuration and administration of WebLogic jRockit and WebLogic Server on SUSE, as well as a quick-start J2EE application deployment and configuration lab. Additional topics to be covered include performance tuning and optimisation, clustering, security and logging and monitoring.

Booking is essential for this workshop. Should you be interested in attending this workshop, please contact one of the BEA people at the BEA stand. Alternatively, e-mail Ezra Kahimbaara at ezra@beasys.co.za.
