JSE-listed Beget Holdings says it expects to report a reduced loss of between R1.5 million and R2 million for the year to December 2004.

This compares with a loss of R13.69 million for the previous year.

The full-year loss translates to a headline loss per share of between 0.41c and 0.55c, compared with a prior-year headline loss of 1.25c a share.

The loss for the year to December 2003 was Beget`s first since listing on the JSE at the end of 2002.

The company said at the time that profit was affected by the discontinuation of Beget Connect and the write-off of an investment in Zest Interactive.

Beget remained in the red for the six months to June 2004, incurring a headline loss of 0.16c a share.

CEO Andr'e Potgieter said in October that in the remainder of the financial year the group was releasing two new products developed by its research and development company, and these were expected to improve profitability in the 2005 financial year.
