BenQ climbs to number three in 2006 global projector sales.

Digital lifestyle leader's annual regional sales grow by 58.8%, says DTC
Dubai, UAE, 14 Mar 2007

BenQ, the global leader in digital lifestyle products, has delivered yet another strong performance in annual projector sales, moving three places up from number six to number three while its market share increased from 5.8% to 7.6% in 2006, compared to 2005, with a 30 % jump in projector sales reported DTC.

Moreover, BenQ Asia Pacific, which includes the Middle East and Africa regions, saw a significant 58.8% growth last year compared to 2005. BenQ Asia-Pacific's market share rose to 9%, moving up four places to number two.

"We saw impressive signs of strength in our projector sales in 2006." expressed Robert Dung, Managing Director of BenQ Middle East. "Our regional projector division has consistently broken sales records in the UAE, Egypt and Saudi Arabia and these results come hard on the heels of our efforts in delivering customer-centric, design-oriented products at competitive prices," he added.

In the Middle East, BenQ already enjoys a market share of 16% and is at number two position. BenQ is number one in Saudi Arabia with 27.48% market share and number two in UAE, Egypt and Pakistan.

Manish Bakshi, General Manager of BenQ Middle East said, "We've launched a complete new range of projectors with upgraded features including models MP510, MP611c, MP611, MP721c and MP721. These new models come with superior convenience features including power on and off ring tones, presentation timer and special application modes. These make our projectors markedly expedient compared to others available in the market.

"Additionally, our range of XGA projectors targeted at the corporate sector, including models MP721c, MP721, MP770, SP830 & SP831, provide optimal wireless connectivity via the optional linkpro wireless module."

This year will see the regional launch of BenQ's W10000 - the first model that fully supports the 1080p/24fps standard, for HD video at 24 frames per second. Also in the pipeline is BenQ's range of high-brightness projectors SP830 & SP831 due to be launched in May this year.

"We will continue to expand our projector lineup with exciting product mix and solutions to the market in 2007. These contemporary models will further boost our regional market presence and continue to drive our sales forward, enabling us to capitalise on our successes" added Bakshi.
