BIDVest Network Solutions, the network solutions provider, has completed the cutover of EnviroServ, a waste management company, onto the BIDNet hosting facility.
The project began in September 2004 and involved 20 sites. Jonty Myer, IT manager, EnviroServ, explains that one of the biggest benefits to EnviroServ is that it now has access to management information with regard to the traffic on its data lines.
"Previously, we did not have access to this information. BIDNet is a very sophisticated network which provides real-time information. Typically, if a line or user is experiencing difficulty, we can see quickly and accurately what the cause is. From an IT planning point of view, it highlights a number of considerations we should take into account. The BIDVest Network Solutions engineers can also assist us to further analyse data on the line using a tool called Netflow.
Stuart Moorhouse, project manager, BIDVest Network Solutions, says: "This is one of the first projects handled by our newly formed Projects Division and we are delighted with the results. One of the primary reasons we created the division was to manage the customer experience of cutting over onto our network. Cutting over is always a difficult time. The client is absolutely reliant on his connectivity."
EnviroServ`s main application lies in Rietfontein. BIDVest Network Solutions planned the cutover, identifying and managing the risks and creating contingency plans for unforeseen circumstances during the roll-out.
"The roll-out was extremely smooth," confirms Myer. He added that the next step for EnviroServ would be to set up ADSL at one of its smaller branches as a pilot project. The agreement includes new Cisco routers deployed in every one of the company`s branches.
"Implementing a network of this magnitude on a state of the art MPLS backbone infrastructure ensures business continuity and has a measurable business outcome for EnviroServ," says Brett Pepper, new business manager, BIDVest Network Solutions.
BIDVest Network Solutions owns and operates its own wide area voice and data network, which is built on the most current Cisco platforms, using Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology.
The company provides a total outsourced infrastructure solution with the main component being an outsourced wide area network, complemented by the provision of Internet, e-mail, server hosting, LAN management, desktop support, monitoring, backup, archiving, recovery and call centre services. BIDVest Network Solutions is part of the BIDVest Group of Companies.
