Biodata IT South Africa introduces the local market to ISDN BlueCrypt, developed by Dica Technologies in Germany. With encryption devices installed in more than 50 countries worldwide, Dica`s latest range encrypts video conferences, telephone conversation and fax transmission.
"There are a number of different ways in which virtual snoops can infiltrate systems and source private information. For instance, through credit and loyalty cards, satellite tracking, mobile phones, cookies on the Web, computer operating systems - and even electronic eavesdropping and wiretapping. In this age of multimedia communication, every opportunity exists for eavesdroppers to gain access to public ISDN networks. BlueCrypt enables customers to encrypt all dial-up and leased-line calls, easily and reliably. In short, BlueCrypt keeps your confidential information confidential," says Ingrid Reimsch"ussel, a director at Biodata IT.
The BlueCrypt range offers total ISDN Encryption for video, voice and data - overall security for all ISDN-based applications. Developers describe it as "a centralised, straightforward security management solution that is compatible with all ISDN networks and ideally suited for videoconferencing and other professional multimedia applications".
According to Christian Runte, director at Biodata IT SA, there is a definite need for security along ISDN, and the BlueCrypt product range provides for effective convergence of encryption and reliable, powerful multimedia communication.
"The encryption of ISDN links opens up new ways for users to transfer confidential information based on ISDN. Even though they may appear safe, video conferences, phone calls, fax and date transmissions carried by public ISDN networks can be monitored, recorded or manipulated with relative ease. As companies depend on exchanging confidential information via public networks, maximum protection of this information is becoming increasingly important. BlueCrypt is the best solution available for closing these treacherous security gaps," says Runte.
All BlueCrypt appliances are compatible with each other and can be installed within the same network to form a complete enterprise-wide security solution. Available in two-, eight-, or 30 channel figurations, the solution is flexible and makes it possible to administer an unlimited number of devices remotely.
BlueCrypt-2 protects an ISDN basic rate connection (two B channels) independent of and transparent to the application it is being used to protect. BlueCrypt-8 is tailored to suit professional videoconferencing applications, whilst BlueCrypt-30 is designed for enterprise applications and can encrypt up to 30 B channels of a PRI connection or a 2 Mbps E1 leased-line in real-time.
Biodata Information Technology provides network, PC and communication security products. The company`s portfolio incorporates Internet servers that each include a firewall, router, web e-mail and file server as well as high-speed data and e-mail encryption products for IP-based systems and network services.
In the IT security market, Biodata positions itself as a one-stop shop supplier of communication and network security. Encryption secures the transmission of data packets via public telecommunication networks. Firewalls protect computer networks from unauthorised access (hacking) and data theft via the Internet. E-mail encryption and PKI solutions cover the security of communication.
Biodata`s activities stretch to each of these growing markets including ISDN. The company distributes a router, developed by Bintec Communications, designed to provide quick and reliable Internet connection via ISDN line. The company intends to achieve a total competitive advantage in all market segments by strong global expansion.
Biodata`s concept and market approach is to develop proprietary products for the individual areas of IT security including routers and content security.
