Content security within a network is paramount. Bandwidth, productivity, costs, hackers, crackers, viruses, hoaxes, intrusion and corporate espionage are all strong reasons why businesses have to protect their IT infrastructure. The OrangeBox solution, available through Biodata IT, has powerful new features to protect e-mail, Internet and a LAN.
The OrangeBox security product suite, developed by Cobion, has now been enhanced with several features including Weblearn, Passlock and Blocking by Extension.
Says Christian Runte, director at Biodata IT: "Weblearn allows companies to automatically transmit all called-up Web pages that belong to the `non-categorised pages` through to the Cobion Data Centre. This feature really improves upon the filtering list through optimal adaptation of the surfing behaviour of companies and organisations. Really, we are talking about new levels of Internet access control management."
Another promising inclusion to the OrangeBox is the passlock feature. With this function users can be given limited access rights to Web sites. If necessary, users are able to call up Web sites of a blocked category but only for a period of 10 minutes.
To complement this function, OrangeBox now boasts `Blocking by Extension`. This feature empowers a company to control its information, infrastructure and drastically reduce costs by preventing bandwidth-intensive files from being downloaded. Files such as audio, video or picture clips burden a company`s infrastructure and use up bandwidth.
Ingrid Reimsch"ussel, director at Biodata IT, says: "These additional features are very powerful. They enable a company to directly control not only how its Internet and e-mail infrastructure is being used, but also to guard against why it is being used. The general purpose of the Internet in a corporate environment should be as an effective tool to generate, maintain and compliment business. If users within the company do not respect the rules and regulations of the company, it should be within the company`s power to act upon infringement."
Runte echoes these sentiments: "We find that many managers today are at their wits end when trying to not only ensure that unsolicited material, illegal or non-business related material is kept at bay, but also that staff conduct business over e-mail and the Internet. OrangeBox is a complete solution that will cover all aspects of communication within the modern-day workplace. The OrangeBox product range allows for a business to efficiently manage content security across the e-mail and Internet," concludes Runte.
