IBM`s annual one-day `IBM Software Day` showcases software that, through key capabilities, helps to run business intelligently. Held on 26 May, the theme for the event is: `Smarter Software for Smarter Business`.
Guest speaker, Russian chess grandmaster Gary Kasparov, will reflect on the famous 1997 challenge with IBM`s Deep Blue Supercomputer.
As an event partner, BITanium will have a presence to demonstrate the Netezza data warehouse appliance and products, as well as integration with IBM`s other offerings. Chris O`Connell, managing director of BITanium, will elaborate on Netezza during the technology track sessions. These sessions will be focused on highlighting the business benefit that smarter software can bring.
"We`re delighted to be involved with this event," says O`Connell. "IBM acquired Netezza six months ago and we have now reached a point where the Netezza appliance offering is seeing increasing integration with the rest of the IBM software stack. Coupling Netezza`s extreme performance and simplicity with the powerful business analytics software from Cognos, the data mining capabilities from SPSS and the end-to-end integration with Information Server enables true delivery of a smart BI system, where traditional performance barriers simply disappear."
The IBM Software Day is a full-day event. It takes place on Thursday, 26 May 2011 at FNB Soccer City, in Soweto. For more information on `IBM Software Day` and to register for the event, visit http://sdjhb.ibmevents.co.za.
