For the last six years, in the telecommunications industry, one company has been stockpiling success stories, refining its product, and honing its skills. BitCo has been patiently waiting for the opportune moment to show the communications world what it has to shout about.
BitCo was established in 2006 by Garth van Sittert, BSc Physics & Computer Science. After graduating, Van Sittert worked for an Internet service provider and felt stifled in his position. He opted to develop his own product. Van Sittert researched the Asterisk open source telephony solution and quickly identified VOIP and VOIP PBX solutions as the next-generation medium for business telephony. BitCo was started.
BitCo's exclusive Communigate system has a Web-based telephone management system based on the Asterisk platform. Communigate has been tirelessly tested and developed to offer unrivalled stability and system-ready features, which competing operators cannot offer.
The success of BitCo's Communigate system lies in its stability. This was already evident in the company's early days, when it was often called on to correct problems with other systems. BitCo literally reloaded systems to replace those that had been sold by other companies. BitCo's reputation grew, and gradually, BitCo gained respect in the market as the reliable choice.
Following the deregulation in the telecommunications industry, BitCo was now able to offer voice over IP in conjunction with PBXs, thus reducing clients' telephony expenses drastically. This value-added service moved BitCo into a far more competitive position in the market. Word-of-mouth was so powerful that by 2008, BitCo had installed a 400-seater call centre! Despite the economic downturn, BitCo continues to grow, as consumers' needs for viable and cost-effective telephony solutions increase.
Towards the end of 2010, Van Sittert, together with his sales director, Michael Colin, and Scott Mobey, a personal friend with unrivalled wireless knowledge, established a company called BitLink, which offers microwave wireless links. BitLink enables BitCo to offer clients last mile connectivity in addition to the other services.
In 2011, BitCo acquired IECS & IECNS licences and added its own number ranges to its repertoire. This enabled BitCo to become a fully-fledged licensed operator. Today, BitCo also boasts three points of presence in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
BitCo shows no signs of stopping in its quest to be the superior VOIP, wireless, PBX and call centre service provider. BitCo made a donation to Childline Gauteng in August this year. The donation of an entire call centre solution with 24/7 support to the non-profit organisation is proof enough that BitCo not only has complete confidence in its product, but in its longevity, as well. Garth van Sittert concludes: “BitCo will always be there for Childline Gauteng, and we know our system will continue to benefit them and that we will have a positive impact on many children's lives.”
BitCo is a licensed telecommunications provider with licence numbers 0135/IECNS/JAN/2009 & 0135/ECNS/JAN/2009 providing voice over IP; wireless; PBX and call centre solutions.
