BlackBerry today introduced its new 9720 smartphone to the South African market.
The new smartphone takes everything you would get from a feature phone, a starter smartphone or an existing BlackBerry Curve smartphone to the next level, and offers a number of social apps, says the company in a statement.
"The BlackBerry 9720 smartphone features a spacious BlackBerry keyboard with distinct keys for optimal typing, a 2.8 inch touchscreen and track-pad for easy navigation," says the statement.
"It also offers generous battery life, and numerous enhancements including, Blackberry 7 OS version 7.1, a dedicated BBM key that makes it quick and convenient to access the globally popular mobile social network and BBM voice, which lets you chat over WiFi."
Other features include built-in FM radio, access to BlackBerry 7 apps and games on BlackBerry World, and business productivity features with BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express.
The new BlackBerry 9720 is now available from Vodacom, and is expected to be available from other authorized carriers and retailers in SA in the first week of September, says the company.
