BlackBerry, Facebook come together

Mashing up the world`s premier smartphone for mobile professionals with the most popular social networking site on the Web, Research In Motion has introduced a version of Facebook customised for BlackBerry devices, says InformationWeek.

Called Facebook for BlackBerry, the software application will use the device`s push e-mail capabilities to allow instant mobile access to Facebook`s social networking features.

Facebook users will be able to receive messages and updates automatically, invite friends to join Facebook and accept friends` requests, take and upload photos along with captions and tags, view friends` status, and read and compose messages even while offline.

Xbox changes customer focus

With Microsoft`s announcement of the Xbox 360 Arcade, the anticipated device looks to be changing how the Xbox targets consumers, reports CNET News.com.

According to a Microsoft representative, the company feels "the timing is right to really focus and turn the spotlight on our family content and, yeah, we feel great".

Microsoft has inked a deal with Warner Bros to bring HD Looney Tunes to the Xbox Live Video marketplace, and more games designed with children in mind are expected.

Leopard to launch on Friday

The iPhone might have grabbed all of this year`s headlines, but Leopard may prove to be Apple`s most revolutionary product release of 2007, notes Wired.

The next version of the Macintosh operating system, Mac OS X 10.5, nicknamed Leopard, will be made available to customers around the world on Friday. It will cost $130 for a single-user licence, or $500 for a five-user family pack.

The software release is the first major upgrade to Apple`s operating system in more than two years. It boasts 300 new features and enhancements.

UK man bust for music downloads

A Teesside man, arrested in connection with a popular Web site providing music for illegal downloads, has been released on bail, reports BBC News.

Officers questioned the 24-year-old on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and infringement of copyright after raiding a flat in Middlesbrough.

His arrest was part of an Interpol-led inquiry into the Web site OiNK, which was closed by police on Tuesday.
