BMC boosts Patrol integration with MQSeries

Johannesburg, 06 Mar 2001

BMC Software, the provider of e-business systems management, has beefed up its Patrol for MQ product family, including Patrol for MQSeries Integrator, its new message broker management technology for users of IBM`s MQSeries Integrator (MQSI).

Patrol for MQSeries Integrator is BMC`s newest addition to the Patrol for MQ family. Message brokers play a critical role as the central message control hub of heterogeneous environments and are a crucial requirement for businesses expanding their message-queuing middleware (MQM) enterprise application integration infrastructures.

Patrol for MQSeries Integrator can be used standalone to monitor and the functions that IBM MQSeries Integrator provides, or in conjunction with other management tools, including Patrol for MQ - Operator, to provide a comprehensive management environment for application integration projects.

Patrol for MQSeries Integrator manages the availability of the MQSI processes and objects to ensure maximum uptime of MQSI applications. Patrol for MQSeries Integrator is available now and supported on Windows NT/2000 platforms of IBM MQSeries Integrator Version 2. Support for AIX and Solaris is planned for general availability in Q4 2000.

"Message broker technology is increasingly important for large-scale message-queuing middleware environments," says Reg Swart, BMC GM at Master Distributor MGX Enterprise Solutions. "Patrol for MQ Series Integrator enables IS professionals to integrate a wide variety of applications by ensuring peak performance management in the broker domain."

Other MQ Series-related releases announced by BMC include:

  • Patrol for MQ

    - Operator 2.2, which gives MQSeries users the flexibility to manage MQSeries the way they want to, from a distributed systems console treating the mainframe as a peer, or from a mainframe that is the hub of their management system, or combination of both. A key new feature is the ability to view queue performance statistics. Examples of these new statistics include what applications are using which queues, get/put rates, and how long messages remain on the queue.

  • Patrol for MQ

    - Administrator 3.1, which delivers new functionality in change management and control. It delivers the capability of scheduling changes on an immediate or later basis and the ability to deliver those changes to groups of similar systems as defined by the user. It is designed for companies that must change MQSeries configurations across a large number of platforms.
