BMC Software, the provider of enterprise management solutions, has announced a storage solution designed to simplify the management of EMC Corporation`sCLARiiON FC4500 and FC4700 information storage arrays. The new solution, PATROL for CLARiiON, is a Knowledge Module that offers a clearer picture of the user`s storage infrastructure by providing a centralised view of information storage resources.
BMC Software Knowledge Modules are the foundation of the company`s Application-Centric Storage Management (ACSM) approach. By implementing ACSM, organisations can optimise storage resources by understanding the relationship between the application and the storage resource layer.
Such detailed storage resource information provides the ability to optimise an application`s performance allowing heavily accessed information to receive optimal disk placement and sufficient network resources.
"The ability to efficiently manage enterprise storage resources is absolutely crucial and necessary in today`s business environment," said Rob Clarkson, country manager for SA. "Storage is a key component in maintaining application uptime and consequently, organisations are looking for integrated management. BMC Software`s PATROL for CLARiiON is another solution that customers can utilise to increase application availability and optimise the performance of their storage infrastructure."
"In today`s business world, a company`s most precious commodity is its information," said Linda Wright, Senior Director of Global Alliances, EMC. "In fact, the management of that information has become increasingly important as customer storage requirements grow. Through the EMC E- Infostructure Developers Program and newly announced CLARiiON Command Line Interfaces (CLIs), we are working with BMC to integrate our products so that mutual customers can better manage the explosion of information in their complex environments."
Specifically, PATROL for CLARiiON allows users to analyse the configurations of EMC CLARiiON FC4500 and FC4700 storage arrays, compare their performance against user expectations and locate areas that may need reconfiguring. In addition, PATROL for CLARiiON collects essential, device-specific data to supply that data to each successive layer of the ACSM technology stack, BMC Software`s unique storage management solution.
