Marius Schoeman has resigned from the position of Business Connexion chief financial officer and will step down as an executive director.
However, Schoeman will remain with the group in the role of operational executive and will assume responsibility for managing key strategic clients, although he will cease to sit on the board from August.
CE Benjamin Mophatlane says: "Marius Schoeman has, for some time, wanted to assume an operational role, similar to the position he held prior to his appointment as chief financial officer."
Vanessa Olver has been appointed to succeed Schoeman as financial director and chief financial officer from August. She was previously finance director of Standard Bank Africa, a position she held since 2006.
She has also held positions in listed companies and accounting firms in both the US and UK. Olver has a B Comm and a Higher Diploma in Accounting from Rhodes University and a Higher Diploma in Taxation from the University of South Africa.
Her professional qualifications include being a Chartered Accountant (SA), a Certified Public Accountant (the US), and a Fellow of the Life Management Institute Programme (the US). Olver worked for Deloitte, in Durban and Chicago, and held financial management positions with P&O Nedloyd and Aviva, in London.
On her return to SA, she joined Standard Bank as senior manager of group financial accounting and reporting, before being promoted to financial director of the local unit.
Business Connexion chairman Tony Ruiters says the succession process was extensive, with internal and external candidates being considered.
