BP offers gadget for faster fill-ups

BP has launched an electronic tag designed to eliminate and the need for petrol cards at the fuel pump.

The new tag, called FuelMaster Express, fits as a keyring on a car key, and contains a microchip that electronically identifies the user at a BP FuelMaster pump.

Once the tag is scanned at the fuel pump, all the details of the transaction are automatically transmitted to the motorist`s . This cuts the need for paperwork, garage card approval and the need for .

Security features aimed at cutting fraud include that the tag can only be used three times a day and can be remotely deactivated, immediately hot-listing it at all BP service stations.

Linde Lentle, product manager for FuelMaster Express, says the tag is available for free at BP service stations. FuelMaster Express customers will also get a 15% reduction in AA membership.
