Break Internet bandwidth limits with Peplink products from Nology

Johannesburg, 30 Aug 2010

Nology, a supplier of quality security-driven broadband, networking and communication solutions, has partnered with Peplink to deliver the company's innovative products to South Africa.

Peplink offers a range of professional multi-Wide Area Network (WAN) routers that converge several WAN links and offers intelligent load balancing, automatic failover and true line bonded site-to-site Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections, for unprecedented connection speeds and reliability.

Says Willem Venter, Technical Director at Nology: "Peplink's products give businesses the ability to combine several Wide Area Network (WAN) interfaces, be they ADSL, iBurst, 3G or even Diginet and WiMax, into one pipe. What this does is in fact combine the speed of all of these connections. For example, if a business has three 4Mb ADSL lines, using the site-to-site bonded VPN feature, the Peplink products converge these lines to create a virtual 12Mb pipe*, increasing bandwidth speeds to unprecedented levels."

These products are perfect for businesses of all sizes, from small to medium businesses (SMEs) right up to large enterprises, and can be used to combine Internet connections from different service providers as well as other WAN technologies.

The Peplink products incorporate intelligent automatic failover, where in the event of a specific link failing, traffic can automatically be routed and load balanced across the remaining lines, including USB-based 3G connections, offering seamless failover and 'always on' WAN connections.

This is achievable irrespective of whether this is an Internet link, MPLS or bonded VPN connection.

"Load balancing has been a buzzword in the industry for years, with many low-cost products claiming to feature some form of load balancing capability.

Many of these overzealous claims created an expectation that was never fully met, thus leaving the end-user with the perception that affordable load balancing is 'pie in the sky'. The Peplink multi-WANrouters are truly capable of load balancing traffic across a blend of WAN connections, using predefined rule sets, utilising a choice of up to seven** load balancing algorithms," says Wynand Britz, from Peplink's local office.

"Our multi-WAN routers have been tried and tested in international markets with an impressive customer base. The South African market, with its slow and notoriously unreliable Internet access, has been begging for a product like this and now it is available through Nology.

"We turned to Nology to distribute these products because they have an excellent reputation, an impressive national footprint and a niche range of products that complement the Peplink offering," he adds. "Nology are also specialists in the networking arena and have a dedicated business unit for these solutions. We look forward to working with them."

The Peplink routers will enable users to gain access to faster and more reliable Internet connectivity, increasing network speeds and ensuring 100% uptime. Peplink routers also enable customers to save money by replacing expensive leased lines with multiple low-cost Internet broadband links, which as an added advantage allows greater flexibility to scale bandwidth.

With the bonded site to site VPN functionality, an organisation now has the ability to bind up to 13** lines in a single VPN pipe, creating a very high speed MPLS-like solution at a fraction of the price.

"The Peplink products expand our offering, allowing us to deliver a more comprehensive range of networking solutions," Venter continues. "These products are high quality devices that will deliver real value to our customers. They are priced attractively for all segments of the market and have applications for any sized enterprise, and as they do not require high levels of technical expertise to set up and maintain, are ideal products for solution integrators to resell and build into their own service offering."
