Brightcove unveils App Cloud
Online video services company, Brightcove, has unveiled Brightcove App Cloud - a content management platform for building applications for Apple and Android mobile devices, reports EON.
According to The San Francisco Chronicle, the company is diversifying its business to look for business growth opportunities in the mobile applications industry.
App Cloud is aimed at companies that want mobile, tablet and Web applications, but don't necessarily want to hire and manage an expensive developer team.
The apps are built using HTML5, Javascript, and CSS3, but developers can also include native code if they wish, according to Mobile Beat.
Brightcove's app platform aims to make it easy for developers to include advertising, engage audiences with notifications, and deliver analytics to help track an application's performance.
PC Mag says the new platform and service is expected to become commercially available in the second-half of 2011, and may cost somewhere in the five-figure range; although a precise number was not cited and will depend on the customer's need.
The product is currently in private beta for approved customers and partners.
